Do I have to have a running linux system to run RIMiGate?
No. As of version 0.2 RIMiGate now runs on a MSDOS type filesystem using the syslinux bootloader.
As a result, all that is need to run the Linux based RIMiGate is a system capable of writing a disk image
to the floppy drive and an editor that support Unix/Linux linefeeds.
What are the memory requirements for RIMiGate?
Memory requirements are based strictly upon the amount of history you would like to maintain. Less
memory means less history (accounted for in minutes). I would suggest that anyone using the bare
minimum, 12 megs of ram, start with 1 minute for the history list. You may wish to experiment upwards
from there, but the entire system will crash if the history list fills all of the memory. If the system
does crash you may safely reboot with either the reset switch or power cycling. Unlike using a
harddrive, there is no fsck issues.
Write protect or read write on the floppy for RIMiGate?
You may safely enable the write protect on the floppy. RIMiGate does not write to the floppy, it
only reads. Of course, if you're updated the config files then, yes, you need it to be read write.
