Thanks to the always strange Gus for today's quote. I'm personally fond of the Dwight Yoakam cover. That said, it make for the second time in a weeks time period to run into a reference to the song. The Onion's horoscopes (which are the only ones worth reading) had this to say:
Taurus: (April. 20-May 20)
Your moodiness, lack of productivity,
and wasteful habit of just riding
around the main roads will get you
fired from your job as a Wichita-area
lineman.
For putting out some of the popiest (yes, I just made that up) country music, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Glen Campbell is about to make a comeback. I'm thinking that there's going to be some sort of tie in with the War in Iraq and "Rhinestone Cowboy" (That'll be a google field day). I'm not sure how it'll work out. The Bush Administration has a bunch of really smart spinsters working for him so they'll figure it out. After all, we've not heard too much about the financial doom we're experiencing now have we? Repeat after me. Consolidation is not bad. Consolidation is good. With any luck we'll only have one company listed on the stock market. And you know what that means. Tonight's presentation of American Supar Mega Intarnet Teen is brought to you by the hardworking (read, enslaved) folks at Viaelectriconysoft, makers of the refreshing 7 PRETTY BOYS beer and parent company of this network. Shop at their malls, their megastore, and drive thru. Tonight's presentation is digitally locked so that unless you don't go get the beer RIGHT NOW you won't get to see another minute of the show and your TV will bluescreen because our DRM stuff is broken. The future.
Overall a good weekend was had. I spent the bettar (yes, I know) part of Friday doing artsy things... after work Rick, Brandon, and Jen (along with me) cruised up to Bowling Green for cheap gas and a good art show. Landry put on an interesting art show. I learned that I've forgotten all of the cool phrases I could put in a calculator. Somewhere I used to have a book with all the leet words one could do on the calc. Like 666, 11:34 is the mark of the devil. It's not often (at least in my book) that the bathroom is used as part of an art show. And likewise, Bowling Green, outside of the strip, appearts to have hipness beyond the realm of WKU. It's an interesting town indeed.
From there it was a trip back to Nashvegas to grab some food stuff. Not content to fill ourselves up from the nightly smokey Sam's, the at the moment inpaletable Bosco's menu, and wanting to slightly avoid the scene whores at the Trace, Rick, Brandon and I ended up at Jacksons. Well, the SW's were there in full effect. And a mixed drink costs more than an sandwhich entree off the menu. Needless to say, it was money that could have been better spent at a McDonalds. And that says a lot. You generally won't find me in a McD's these days. If I wanted microwaved burgers I'd go to the store and use what I've got at home.
As I write this, I'm listening to Ben Folds' solo album. Space Ghost and Brak are up next and it'll only be a matter of time before I retire for the night. My Sunday schedule is so set in stone it's a burden of sorts. I want to get something done but after a certain time I just resign myself to the fact that I'm glued to the tube for the rest of the evening. I keep threatening to fire up the cluster and start ripping my cd's again. I've received quite a few and more are on their way. It has been another good buy. I'm excited that Neko Case will be visiting Nashville this coming weekend. It'll hopefully be a show that reflects her studio work.
I've come to the conclusion that using Google to translate pages from Spanish can provide boundless amounts of entertainment. I think I'll have a few phrases for a few updates to come. Rick's jukebox is currently offline which means he'll have to keep settling for the CSNY for a few more days.

Slowly but surely half the stuff that was a brewin at this site is getting back to normal. While I'm still a ways out from putting the webcam back online (knocked offline due to the remodeling) there are a few other things that I've been working on. First and foremost, the article links to the left now work. Linux.com, despite promising to keep content on their site after firing damn near everyone went thru and removed it anyway. I thankfully mirrored my work. Note, the work is my copyright and is not under any restriction from Linux.com.
I actually ran a backup with the DAT drive I hooked up... hooking it up and the resulting necessary reboot is what knocked this server offline in the first place. I don't think it was a result of the hooking up... the HD just decided it was time to remove the contents stored in a non-recoverable manner.
It has been a rainy day here in Nashville. We're getting plenty of the fallout from tropical storm / hurricane Isidore. It looks like we'll be water logged round these parts thru Friday. I've been watching this one line develop and slowly move north for the better part of today. The last time TN had fallout from a hurricane it was back in 96 and the volume of rain and wind was pretty impressive. You just dont get those kinds of storms in Illinois.
I'm excited about the STL Cardinals. They're playing really well and will hopefully put the same smakdown on Arizona like they've done the past 3 days. It's been 20 years since they've had a world series championship. They're a little overdue. While in STL last weekend they celebrated the awesome 82 team... Keith Hernandez came back (that's right, he had a career outside the Mets) and a few others such as Willie (ET!), Ozzie, Tommy Herr. The Brewers are nowhere near contension this year. And besides, it's just not the Brewers without Rollie Fingers. That stache ruled.
I've been trying to troubleshoot a bug in which the litestream server quits sending the stream... clients stay connected but new clients are put in a holding pattern until something becomes unstuck. Unfortunately, the next logical step is the low latency patch which does not seem to play well with the xfs patch to the linux kernel. I just tried compiling a 2.5 test kernel since it looks like both xfs and some pre-emption stuff is in the kernel, but make just reported something failed in the build, and it looks like some stuff that I'm not even compiling support for. Hrm. Back to the drawing boards I guess.
Rumors are that the cluster might be fired back up. I've got a lot of work ahead of me... kernel updates and a shift to a different clustering package for starters (well, not technically, have to get away from Mosix and start using the OpenMosix stuff). I need to get more of my CD's ripped so I'll quit getting bored with the stuff I've got in the jukebox at work.

Ah yes, The Onion strikes again. It's been a crazy Mac day at work. But I prevailed and life is good.
Thing have been freaking busy and tame all at once. I'm still not recovered from the week of vacation, and Jen and I are heading to Il. I've discovered that my new cookie of choice is Vienna Fingers. Those things are sooo good.
I've still not done everything that needs to be done to the site. Hopefully next week will prove fruitful in getting a few projects back off the ground
That's right kiddies... The Roundeye's Jukebox is officially back in the hizzouse!

That's right folkies, I'm bringing RIMBoy.com back to the Intarnet power house it once was! With a fresh new fruity flavor and some additional hard drive space to boot.
I've still got some work to do round the place, but it's getting back to normal.
Speaking of normal, I'm back in my regular seating position at the RIMBoy.com offices. That's right, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the remodeling project. Now to figure out what to do with the carpet.
Rick's slowly getting moved in and is pimping my jukebox at work for his musical employment enjoyment. And Casey's redesigned the goatfarm, Keldaughg the same.
