I was beginning to wonder.
Alan gets married today. Of course we don't find out until after Naked Dave has left for the evening last weekend that Alan has not had a bachelor party. We all went out last night to the Mercy Lounge for some live band karoake. Dave once again reprised his version of No Doubt's "I'm Just A Girl".
Saw The Fags, at least part of their show at the Exit/In Thursday night. The line was freaking out the door. Headliner was Butch Walker. I'll have to go out and pick up some of his stuff. 2 of the 3 bands were pretty good. How the Low Millions ended up on tour with them is beyond me. LM sucked in many ways I thought not possible. Of course, there were those few that loved them.
It does not look like Neko Case will get to Nashville anytime soon. I'm due for a dose of her and another dose of a headlining Old 97's.
An observation I made on my drive Saturday. This was the first weekend I've been home when the weather was perfect, indeed outstanding, for a drive in my car. I spent last Sunday cleaning it up, it was a tad dirty.
I kicked off the weekend a bit early and headed out with friends for Cinco. We started out at Fiesta Azteca, headed over to Broadway Brewhouse before Rick and I headed from there to Ken's Karaoke to meet up with PDS, YG, Bryan, and Brenee. After midnight the party broke up and Rick and I headed back to his place and set about getting food. Around 2:30-2:45am we finally had our pizza in hand and our hunger satisfied. I managed to make it into work at a reasonable time on Friday. Go figure.
After spending Saturday morning pondering what it was I thought I should accomplish, around 2pm I finally set foot outside, threw the top down on the car and hit the road. The weather does not get much better, low to mid 80's is all a convertible driver can ask for. Warm enough to enjoy the wind, cool enough to not sweat like a pig. Don't get me wrong, I do like a brisk wind in my hair, especially in the morning. Nothing gets the blood pumping like a drive in the mid 60's. However, I wanted a drive without a jacket and for most of Saturday it delivered. And then some.
I headed down I65 and finally hopped off at Exit 14, US Highway 64. I headed west from there towards Waynesboro TN. I needed to check a radio tower site I have access to. Needed to see if the strobe was replaced and likewise whether or not the site needed to be mowed. Looked like someone took target practice at the signs telling people not to trespass. The strobe light was strobing and the grass seemed like it could wait. After forgetting the combination to gain access to the fenced in area around the tower I decided to head out and back north. This time the return trip via the Natchez Trace Parkway. I followed the Trace outta Waynesboro and followed it to its terminus in Nashville. I finally rolled back in around 6-7pm and set about obtaining some food.
I spent the rest of the evening watching Reservoir Dogs and watching a few episodes from the Ben Stiller Show. Ben does a pretty good Bono, I must say.
Sunday (today) I got up, mowed the lawn and proceeded to veg after eating some lunch. Took a nap and then set about working on the stuff that will go down to the tower site (for APRS). Naked Dave gave me a ring from Kuwait and for the next hour I got to catch up with him. It made my day, and he'll be back shortly. Finally did a little grocery shopping since the Law School cafeteria will be closed for the summer. Not that I'm eating the breakfast of champions, but if I'm that early to work I need to eat something. The fridge is pretty spartan and well, it's only going to be moreso as the week progresses.
Other than that Vandy graduation is on Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing some friends that will be back in town and celebrating in style. With any luck I'll get done around the house what needs to get done. I certainly have enough stuff that needs to find a new home.
