Casey gets a famous fender, this guy won't be endorsed by Fender

If I've said it before, I'll say it again here. There are times when I sit back and say, thank goodness for the Intarnet. I say it with an "A" since I'm referring to it in the Jeffk sense in that anyone and everyone can throw up a webpage. Some days you sit back and say, The world is better is a better place and then there's days where you understand why some busses are not as long as others. I came across RRC several months ago. I keep threatening to get one of their "Your Band Sucks" T-shirts and start wearing it around town. Goodness knows I've seen my fair share of bands that suck (as I did on Friday).

Anyway, RRC linked to this site. I never knew Poison was a gateway band to Queensryche (via a stop off at Metallica's Black Album). And then you meet this guy (complete with rock fingers). It's good to see those that are waiting for the second coming of glam rock putting up webpages. It provides an easy an efficient way for those other Aquanetter's to know who's gonna be on the boat when the great flood of glam happens. Hopefully Yngwie, Dio, and Lemy will still be around to come down from the mountain and put forth their Commandments of Rock:

    1. You shall have no other stacks beside Marshall before Me.
    2. You shall not play for yourself any guitar that can be purchased from Sears.
    3. You shall not take the name of the guitar gods in vain.
    4. Remember the Sabbath day, and rock like no other.
    5. Honor your guitar and your amp.
    6. You shall not suck.
    7. You shall not sleep with the band member's wives.
    8. You shall not steal the guitar player's riffs.
    9. You shall not be a poser.
    10. You shall not covet the guitar player's axe, you shall not covet your guitar player's wife, nor his roadie, nor his groupie, nor his Trans-Am, nor his Camaro, nor anything else that is your guitar player's.

As I said, this guy is awating the second coming of glam. According to his own timeline Nirvana is more or less the immaculate conception of rock. And thus, given the current events we've got around 1900 and 40 some odd years before the rise of glam and all that goes with it (date ticking upwards daily, of course). Hopefully Metallica won't suck nearly as much post Black this time around.

    Everyone needs a 303

I've caught myself in a Fatboy Slim kick as of late. Don't know why. I should probably break out with some LA Style, Self, or Smart E for the mix, but for whatever reason FS has caught my mouse clicks as of late. Am I the only one freaked out by Christopher Walkin doing his best Fred Astaire to "Weapon of Choice"? It's like, great video (refreshing actually) but it's gives me the willies every time I see it. I did have to play some Siouxsie and the Banshees and some Morrissey this morning to celebrate the retreat of the sun from Nashville. It was too good to last.

I picked up a Cybiko that was on the clearance table at the local CompUSSR. I knew there were some APRS apps for it, and there are. I need to get the software up and running and load it up. It'll be a handy way to do simple APRS functions.

I've long had plans to make some use of the skads of Apple IIe's stockpiled like food for a nuclear winter (I'm betting the Apple IIe would make it thru nuclear war). Some of them are in pretty bad shape, keys busted and most likely brain dead. I've had this plan to pay homage to the geniuses at Chiat Day while celebrating the computer that financed the Mac. Over dinner Jen and I discussed these plans. My main thing is that I don't want to use a working IIe, a working IIe needs to find a new good home. However, those missing a fair bit of keys may as well be assumed to be dead and or parts for others. The dilemma becomes what to replace the keyboard with, and in replacing it, what besides a blank could convey what that keyboard did. I hit me and with some additional brain storming over a Casa Fiesta chicken quesadilla I figured out how to make it all work. Unfortunately, I won't mention it here. Sorry. Gotta leave some element of surprise. Let's just say though that I've finally got a plan and as soon as we get good enough weather to support outdoor type work, I'll put the plans into full gear. Yipee!

Of course, things are really hitting the fan in the RI club. Finger pointing a plenty and a report that Great White wanted immunity for Grand Jury testimony. I've not heard or seen where that was agreed to, but frankly, I want an end put to Great White. Period. No immunity. Likewise, the first of the lawsuits were filed today. Better get in while there's money to get I'm sure is the thinking, but under the guise of these people need money to carry on with their lives. How does our legal system continually come up with these winners? If our legal system (more importantly law offices) needs PR people, you know there's something wrong. On a tangent, I read where the accident at Duke may cool the jets of malpractice reform and caps camps. And apparently, rates in Nevada where caps are set have done nothing to lower the insurance. State sanctioned across the board medical is sure sounding good right about now. But I digress.

You know we're in good with the world when we cannot buy off a country in the name of war. Frankly, we've chewed thru any goodwill we still had. We had a lot of it because of 9/11. Amazing that in less than 2 years we can get the world from caring to telling us where we can stick it. Turkey knows that allowing us in will lead to trouble that they really don't want to deal with. We've already worn out our welcome in Kuwait (most of the youth (as in the 18-26 age group IIRC) despise the American presence) and Saudi Arabia really would not cry if we left either. Recall the last time we tried to use our military to actively depose a dictator? Somali is the one that sticks out. I've had the gut feeling and have seen an article or two that this is going to divide us on the level that Vietnam did. And while there's not a draft this time around, it's clear that the Govt is doing the same level of misinformation that permeated the Vietnam war. I think Saddam is bad, don't get me wrong. We had our chance to take care of him back in 91 and we did not. Now is not the time to clean up that mess, unless of course we've got a good reason. And that's what we're lacking. And that's what the rest of the world is telling us too.

    Build it Up
    Tear it Down
